Day 46 - Bombay Beach

The front entrance to our mid-century modern, complete with grapefruit tree.

The hypnotic Salton Sea rises from the mist.

Bombay Beach. It's much less romantic than this. A rusty metal spike went through my shoe, sock and between my toes here. Yet another lucky near-miss.

On the edge of the Salton you never know what folks may do - we're not sure if this person is scritchin' her head, making a ballet move, worshipping the Salton Gods, or taking a photo. Pragmatically, it's likely the photo.

This is definitively a photo shoot - one photographer - one model. Hope they got the shots they wanted!

Novelty in design is the spice of life.

I'm trying to talk to that character down there - but it won't talk back.

This is the dyke that holds back the power of the Salton Sea. Today it mostly serves as a great walking trail and local playground.

Emma stands her post at the Navy Kayak Training Centre.

Late day clouds over the Salton and the San Juacinta mountains.

A remnant beach change hut reminds us of the era of bathing suit clad tourists that used to line the beaches and fill the camps.

Center Court at the Salton Sea Tennis Academy.

Just a few more steps and we'll make it to that Oasis.

6 years ago we photographed a closed motel right on this location. Things change - photography has the power to remind us of what has gone before.
